FuelCell Energy receives ISO 9001:2008 Certification

The leader in providing ultra-clean baseload distributed generation to a variety of institutions, FuelCell Energy, has announced that its Quality Management System is now ISO 9001:2008 certified. The auditing for this International Organization for Standardization (ISO) certification was performed by American Systems Registrar, an accredited independent third party registrar and confirmed that FuelCell’s quality system ensure that rigorous quality standards are consistently met.

Fuel cells electrochemically convert a fuel source into electricity and heat in a highly efficient process that emits virtually no pollutants due to the absence of combustion. The stationary fuel cell power plants manufactured by FuelCell Energy are fuel flexible, capable of operating on clean natural gas, on-site renewable biogas, or directed biogas. The power plants provide continuous power and can be sited where the power is used, including both on-site applications and electric grid support. The combination of near-zero pollutants, modest land-use needs, and quiet operating nature facilitates locating the fuel cell power plants in urban locations and even within occupied buildings.

Tony Rauseo, Chief Operating Officer, FuelCell Energy, has commented, “The ISO 9001:2008 certification conveys the stringent and robust quality standards incorporated throughout our business and supports our selling initiatives by facilitating the due diligence our customers undertake. This certification conveys to our customers that we are focused on quality throughout our business including design, manufacturing and service.”

ISO 9001:2008 is a world-recognized standard that defines adherence to quality-oriented processes and procedures. The standard requires independent auditing to verify consistent application of quality standards, including measuring and monitoring procurement and production, including a process for corrective actions, and incorporating the practice of continual improvement.
