ExxonMobil begins the Beaumont project

KBR, Inc. has been contracted to provide detailed engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services to ExxonMobil Corp.

KBR’s EPC services will be for ExxonMobil’s offsite and interconnecting units as part of the supermajor’s refinery expansion in Beaumont, Texas, which was announced by the company on January 29.
ExxonMobil’s Beaumont project, which is already in the early stages of the construction, consists of adding a third crude unit to the 366,000 bpd Beaumont Refinery. This will expand the company’s ability to refine light, crude oil from the Permian Basin. The facility’s crude refining capacity is expected to increase by 250,000 bpd and should reach the start-up phase in 2022.
