Expanite stainless steel surface hardening

Expanite, with a US head office located in Ohio, has displayed its innovation within the pump and stainless steel industries by hardening both screw and positive displacement pump parts for the food & beverage industry.

Expanite’s surface hardening for stainless steel is designed to allow parts to be treated with very short lead times. With this treatment, it may be possible to increase the surface hardness of stainless steels by a factor of 10, while maintaining or even improving corrosion resistance.

This method is suitable for austenitic-, ferritic-, martensitic and duplex stainless steels. The Expanite process may also improve resistance against issues such as galling, cavitation erosion and abrasive wear.
