EVP and COO Goodish to retire from US Steel

John H. Goodish will retire from United States Steel Corporation effective 31 December 2010, after 40 years of service with the company. Goodish joined the US Steel team as an accounting manager trainee in 1970. He quickly advanced through the auditing, accounting and financing divisions of the company in Pittsburgh and Indiana and became division manager of coke and chemicals at Gary Works in Gary. He then served as the operational head of the company’s Gary Works and Mon Valley Works facilities in Pittsburgh before moving to Slovakia in 2000 to head US Steel Kosice, US Steel’s newly acquired Central European steelmaking operation. He was elected as an officer of the company upon his return to the U.S. in March 2003, serving as executive vice president of international and diversified businesses. By June 2003, he was appointed executive vice president of operations and he assumed his present position in 2005. Goodish played a major role in changing the company’s safety performance.
