Esab acquiring SMT’s welding wire operations

Maryland-based, Esab Welding & Cutting products will acquire Sandvik Materials Technology’s (SMT’s) welding wire operations. 
The scope of the deal includes units in Sandviken, Sweden, and Scranton, Pennsylvania, as well as the global sales and product management organization. With the acquisition, Esab will be acquiring Sandvik’s portfolio of solid welding wire and rods, flux-cored wire, stick electrodes, strip electrodes, flux, thermal spray wire, and weld finishing chemical products. The acquisition should be completed within two-four months.
