EOS, the company that creates design-driven industrial additive manufacturing solutions, has expanded its metals portfolio with two new metals.
The first is EOS Titanium Ti64ELI, which is a light metal alloy that is both corrosion resistant and biocompatible. Parts built in EOS Titanium Ti64 have a chemical composition and mechanical properties corresponding to ASTM F136. This alloy can be processed on an EOSINT M 280 (400 watt) metal laser-sintering system. It is particularly suitable for the additive manufacturing of medical implants because of its biocompatibility.
The second new metal is EOS Stainless Steel 316L that is also corrosion resistant and biocompatible. It has been optimized specifically for processing on the EOSINT M 280 metal laser-sintering system. Parts built from EOS Stainless Steel 316L have a chemical composition corresponding to ASTM F138.This alloy is largely intended for the medical industry, especially surgical instruments, endoscopic surgery, orthopaedics and implants. However, it is also applicable to the aerospace industry in applications such as clamping elements or heat exchangers.
