Developing strong working relationships in refining

Phillips 66 is one of America’s fastest growing energy manufacturing and logistics companies, specializing in midstream, chemicals, refining and marketing and specialties. Operating under the corporate principles of safety, honor and commitment, Phillips 66 operates 13 refineries, nearly 50 storage terminals and thousands of miles of pipelines. The company also holds 50 percent interests in DCP Midstream and Chevron Phillips Chemical Company.

Stainless Steel World Americas had the opportunity to sit down with Greg Ardoin, Category Manager—General Maintenance Supplies, Projects & Procurement for Phillips 66, to discuss his career, the importance of building solid work relations and what he sees for the future of the industry.

He shared with us, “In this role I am responsible for all of our corporate agreements around maintenance supplies or MRO type materials, so it is the high-volume and low-dollar type material we use on a daily basis such as valves, gaskets, bolts, paint, bearings, seals, all those types of commodities. I negotiate contracts, how much we pay for a given commodity and how much we will pay for a given widget. My job is to streamline that process to drive automation.”
