Contracts signed for stainless steel tankers

Odfjell, whose US headquarters are located in Texas, has announced that they have signed shipbuilding contracts with China Shipbuilding Trading Co., Ltd. and Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd. The stainless steel chemical tankers are 49,000 dwt (deadweight tonnage), with a cargo capacity at 54,600 cbm (cubic meter).

The first vessel is expected to be delivered in June 2019 and the following vessels with 3 month intervals. The capital commitments will be USD $60 million per vessel.

The shipyard is regarded to have one of the very few construction facilities in China that is able to meet Odfjell’s standards for building advanced chemical tanker vessels. “The vessels are designed to be good for the environment, good for our customers and a good investment for our shareholders”, said Kristian Mørch, CEO Odfjell SE.
