Coherent, a California-based company, will soon present its Profile Welding System (PWS), a turnkey solution for tube and profile laser welding with an integrated process sensor for welding gap detection and intelligent seam tracking.
In particular, Coherent will highlight some new product features that enable higher quality, higher throughput, lower costs, and reduced scrap. These include:
– Operation using the unique Coherent HighLight-FL Adjustable Ring Mode (ARM) fiber laser, which has already shown to be particularly advantageous for use with stainless steel, and which also offers cost of ownership benefits
– Coherent CleanWeld technology, which includes advanced process technology to provide more consistent results, i.e. through better control of melt pool dynamics with up to 80% less spatter
– A new reverse welding feature that eliminates any gap in the weld seam when the system is stopped and then subsequently restarted
– Operation using an industry-proven Coherent DC Series CO2 laser, which is well-established as delivering a stable, high quality process on most metals
– The new automatic system height focus capability which speeds changeovers to different diameter tubes, and automatically compensates for tolerance variations in actual tube diameter or machine settings
