CEO of Essar Steel retires

Armando Plastino, Chief Executive Officer of Essar Steel Algoma Inc. announced his retirement after 38 years of service with the company. Plastino provided leadership throughout the challenges of the economic downturn and played a significant role in integrating Algoma within Essar. Plastino’s retirement is effective 30 November 2010. Until a new CEO is appointed, the board has formed a Management Committee who will be responsible for managing the everyday operations of the company. The Committee includes Chief Commercial Officer, Kalyan Ghosh, Chief Operating Officer, Pramod Shukla and Vice President of Legal General Counsel, Victoria Chiappetta. Mr. Plastino has decided to act as a Management and Committee advisor until 31 March 2011, at the request of the Board.
