Suncor Names Odegaard Senior VP
Suncor Energy (Suncor) has appointed Janice Odegaard as senior vice president and general counsel. In her new position, Odegaard will be in charge of all legal and regulatory matters across the company, working closely with Suncor's Board of Directors on corporate governance matters. ThyssenKrupp will push construction of a cost saving melt shop plant forward in an attempt to compete against rivals. Originally scheduled for 2014, production on the U.S. plant will now begin in 2013. .

Saipem has received an EPC onshore contract with Husky Oil in Canada. The CAD 1 billion contract is part of the first phase of the Sunrise Oil Sands project. Sunrise is an in-situ oil sands development 60km northeast of Fort McMurray, Alberta that will produce bitumen through steam-assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) technology.
Emerson Process Management will provide process automation technologies and services for Petrobras’ Petrochemical Complex of Rio de Janeiro (Comperj) in Brazil. As per the contract, Emerson will act as Main Automation Contractor for Comperj, delivering engineering services and technologies for process automation and systems integration of the projects refining unit, utilities and offsite operations.
Siemens Energy will supply Minnesota Power’s Bison 1 wind power plant with 15 of its SWT-3.0-101 direct drive wind turbines in Center, North Dakota. The company adjusted their initial order, replacing 33 Siemens SWT-2.3-101 geared wind turbines with 16 SWT-2.3-101 and 15 SWT-3.0-101 direct drive machines.
William J. Moran has been named president and chief executive officer of Trinity Steel Fabricators, Inc., effective 3 January 2011. Moran’s most recent position was with a private equity firm that specialized in advising on the acquisition and integration of energy service companies.
