Grupo Bimbo’s wind farm underway

Construction on Grupo Bimbo’s Piedra Larga wind farm in Mexico has commenced. The USD 200 million farm will have an installed power of 90MW when complete.

LE adds two new lines of stainless welding consuma

Lincoln Electric has added two new lines of stainless welding consumables, the Excalibur® stainless stick electrode and the Lincolnweld® stainless submerged arc wire and flux. These brands will replace the LE’s current stainless products, Red Baron® and Blue Max®.

EVP and COO Goodish to retire from US Steel

John H. Goodish will retire from United States Steel Corporation effective 31 December 2010, after 40 years of service with the company. Goodish joined the US Steel team as an accounting manager trainee in 1970.

Wescast to expand foundry in China, Hungary

Wescast Industries Inc. will expand its foundry in China in order to produce more stainless steel castings, and its plant in Hungary to produce castings in stainless and Ni-Resist alloys.

GE, CME to build 500MW plant in Nigeria

GE will build a 500MW gas fired power plant in Ondo State, Nigeria. The company will supply four Frame 9E gas turbines, generators and accessories in addition to technical assistance and training.

LE introduces Mobiflex Welding Fume Extractors

Lincoln Electric has added the Mobiflex® 200 M and 400 MS to its line of products.  These low vacuum systems designed for welding fume extraction and filtration are suitable for smaller manufacturing facilities requiring light to medium duty fume extraction in various locations.

ThyssenKrupp to build cost saving melt shop

ThyssenKrupp will push construction of a cost saving melt shop plant forward in an attempt to compete against rivals. Originally scheduled for 2014, production on the U.S. plant will now begin in 2013. .
