The Jefferson County Commissioners have thrown their support behind the Keystone XL crude oil pipeline just days after the U.S. State Department issued its final Environmental Impact Statement for the project.

Shipp, new VP of Dow’s Freeport site
Earl Shipp, Vice President and Site Director of Dow Michigan Operations, has been named the new Vice President and Site Director of Dow Texas Operations in Freeport. He succeeds Gary Hockstra who has been named Vice President of Manufacturing, Engineering and EH&S for the Dow Advanced Materials Division.

Weeks Marine Inc. has hired BAE to build a 356ft long, 79ft wide dredging vessel from scratch at its Mobile River facility for use in the US, according to BAE. The twin screw trailing suction hopper will have a capacity of 8500 cubic yards.

First Point Minerals Corporation has announced that Cliffs Natural Resources Exploration Canada Inc, an affiliate of Cliffs Natural Resources Inc, has expanded the 2011 drilling program at the Decar nickel project in British Columbia.
