Jim Macki named MTI Fellow

The Materials Technology Institute has named Jim Macki an MTI Fellow. In 1979, Macki served on MTI’s Board of Directors and, after a hiatus from the organization, became an Associate Director in 1995. He retired from The Dow Chemical Company in 1995 after providing 27 years’ of service

Shell Global signs Iraq refinery deal

Shell Global Solutions International B.V. (Shell Global Solutions) has entered into an agreement with the South Refineries Company of Iraq, for the provision of technology licenses to a refinery in Basrah, Southern Iraq.

Praj wins Colombia ethanol plant project

Praj Industries Limited has won a contract for a large Ethanol plant from Isolux Corsan, the main contractors for the Bioenergy S.A. project. As per the contract, Praj will supply the main process plant for ethanol production including the concentration of vinasse for use as liquid fertilizer.

Quaker City Castings expands

Quaker City Casting (QCC) vice president Geoff Korff has reported that the company has purchased a 51,000sq/ft building adjacent to its operation. It plans to reorganize its operations by relocating its secondary processes

POSCO now No. 2 stainless maker globally

TransMontaigne, Blueknight to build oil terminal

TransMontaigne Partners L.P. (TLP) and Blueknight Energy Partners, L.P. (BKEP) have entered into agreements for the construction and operation of 1,000,000 barrels of crude oil storage adjacent to BKEP's Cushing, Oklahoma facility.

Special Metals relocates to Indiana

Special Metals Corp. will relocate operations from Rockford, Illinois, to Elkhart, Indiana, generating up to 100 new jobs by 2014. The producer of high-nickel, high-performance engineering alloys will move its A-1 Wire division, which manufactures stainless steel and nickel alloy wire

Staatsolie to expand refinery

Suriname's state-owned oil company, Staatsolie, signed an agreement with Saipem S.p.A for the engineering, procurement and construction of its new oil refinery at Tout Lui Faut, 20 kilometers south of Paramaribo.
