Carpenter to build new site in Alabama

Carpenter Technology Corporation has chosen Limestone County, Alabama as the location to construct its new 400,000sq/ft state of the art manufacturing facility. The plant is being built as a result of rising customer demand for premium alloy products, particularly in the aerospace and energy industries. Upon completion, the new facility will be capable of generating approximately 27,000 tons of additional premium product per year. It will be designed with modern technology and optimal product flow to meet customer requirements for reduced lead times. The 230 acre site is located near Athens, Alabama in the Huntsville Metropolitan Statistical Area; its flat and open structure will allow for relatively easy construction and flexibility for future growth and expansion. The USD 500 million facility is expected to be operational in about 30 months, and has a total cost of approximately USD 500 million. The plant will include remelting, forging, and associated finishing and testing capabilities.
