On 22 April 2009, Canadian International Trade Tribunal initiated an expiry review of its findings made on 7 January 2005 concerning the dumping of certain carbon steel fasteners. As a result, the president of the Canada Border Services Agency commenced an investigation on 23 April 2009 to determine whether the expiry of the findings is likely to result in the continuation or resumption of dumping and or subsidizing of the goods. The investigation has now been completed and, on 20 August 2009, the president determined that the expiry of the findings is likely to result in the continuation or resumption of dumping of the goods from China and Chinese Taipei and the subsidizing of such product from China. The Tribunal will now conduct an inquiry to determine whether the expiry of the findings is likely to result in injury or retardation to the Canadian industry, and is scheduled to make its decision by 6 January 2010.
