Canada: subsea pile installation contract

BJ Services Co. has been awarded a contract to provide subsea pile installation services by Technip Canada Ltd. The hydraulic hammer pile-driving services are to be carried out offshore eastern Canada for Technip Canada on a large Engineering-Procurement-Construction-Installation (EPCI) contract. BJ Services will drive a number of 24in and 36in subsea pin piles, with plans to commence operations in Q2 2009. The pin piles will be driven into the seafloor using its S-200 subsea hydraulic hammers while working from Technip’s Deep Pioneer and Wellservicer vessels. The operation will be supported by BJ Services personnel from operations bases in St. John’s and Lafayette, Louisiana. Although BJ Services has worked for many years in Canada, the forthcoming pile-driving operation represents the first time that the company will have carried out these particular services in Canada.
