Burns & McDonnell acquires AZCO Inc.

Burns & McDonnell, a leading Kansas City-based engineering and architecture firm, is adding to its construction clout with the acquisition of AZCO Inc., which is based in Appleton, WI. AZCO Inc. will join Burns & McDonnell after having collaborated on projects with the firm for decades. In addition to being known for its construction expertise, AZCO operates a 71,000-square-foot fabrication center that produces stainless steel, carbon steel, chrome-moly and exotic alloy pipe and metal fabrication.

The two firms just completed an engineer-procure-construction project at the Empire Riverton Power Plant in Riverton, KS. The team converted an existing combustion turbine generator to a combined-gas-fired power facility. The high-efficiency system will control fuel costs, reduce emissions and provide reliable energy for consumers.
