BlueChip to acquire land for solar farm

BlueChip Energy has signed an agreement to acquire land in Central Florida for the development of a 40MW capacity solar farm. The Sorrento Solar Farm is slated to be the largest photovoltaic (PV) solar plant in the State of Florida and the third largest in the United States when completed. It will generate an estimated 64 million kWh annually. The solar farm will be a ground-mount system covering 140 acres in Lake County, approximately 50 mi NW of Orlando adjacent to two utility substations. The project will deploy an estimated 140,000 solar panels and will be built in stages at a cost of USD 200 million. High efficiency solar panels and racking systems will be provided by Advanced Solar Photonics (ASP) for 75% of the project. The remaining 25% is expected to be provided by additional equity partners.
