B.C. LNG project receives approval

The British Columbia (B.C.) Oil and Gas Commission has approved a liquefied natural gas (LNG) project located just outside of Squamish, B.C. planned for the site of an old pulp and paper mill just outside Squamish, B.C.
The Woodfibre LNG project, which will be located on what used to be an old pulp and paper mill, was already licensed to export 2.1 million tons a year of LNG for four decades. This will require about three to four tanker trips through Howe Sound each month, according to the company’s website.
The recently-approved facility permit by the oil and gas commission is one of the key approvals needed to move forward with construction and operation of the plant.
