The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has granted a Parts Manufacturer Approval (PMA) to Aerospace Welding Minneapolis, Inc. (AWI). This PMA enables AWI to manufacture and sell new replacement mufflers, shrouds, exhaust risers, and tailpipes for the aging Cessna 150 fleet.
All components in the replacement systems are made with 321 stainless steel. Owners of a Cessna 150 have the option to choose between ordering specific parts for a system, or ordering a complete systems. A full replacement kit would take an A&P mechanic about an hour to install.
Each part in the replacement exhaust system comes with a 12-month, unlimited hours warranty against workmanship defects. Depending on the type of engine operations and maintenance program, the life of the components will vary.
Cessna first flew the popular 150 trainer aircraft in 1957 and in the ensuing 20 years, they sold nearly 24,000 copies to pilots and flight schools around the world.
