August stainless steel surcharges

The monthly stainless steel surcharges issued by producers in the US are projected to remain mostly flat for August, but slightly retracting for some austenitic grades.

The surcharges placed on type 304 stainless steel range between 89.71-89.79 cents/Ib for three of the four major domestic producers: North American Stainless, ATI Allegheny Ludlum and AK Steel, while Outokumpu had not yet published their surcharges. In comparison, this past July the surcharges ranged between 89.10-89.15 cents/Ib from all four producers.

Type 316 surcharges related slightly in August at 127.85-127.89 cents/Ib from the three producers down from July’s range of 130.82 to 130.88 cents/Ib. Type 430 surcharges were mostly flat in August at 25.77 cents/lb, compared with 25.63 cents/lb in July.
