ASTM International elects John Chir

The ASTM International Committee E04 on Metallography has announced that it has elected John Chir, manager of labs and nondestructive testing at Latrobe Specialty Steel Co., Latrobe, Pennsylvania, as its new chairman. The committee, with a membership of more than 175, includes 15 subcommittees who maintain 34 standards on metallography published in the Annual Book of ASTM Standards. In addition to his responsibilities as chairman of the E04 main committee, John leads Subcommittee E04.09 on Inclusions. A member of ASTM International since 1996, he also serves on Committees A01 on Steel, Stainless Steel and Alloys, E08 on Fatigue and Fracture and E28 on Mechanical Testing.
