The Arc Junkies Podcast is hosted by welder Jimmy McKnight who interviews welders, blacksmiths, machinists, builders about their experiences. On Friday May 4th, 2018, the podcast aired its very first 30-minute Filler Metal Friday, which was the first of what will be 12 episodes that will air on the first Friday of every month.
Each episode Jimmy McKnight is joined by filler metal experts from ESAB Welding & Cutting Products to discuss application challenges related to filler metals, with each podcast focusing on a specific topic. The inaugural episode focused on the specific challenges related to feeding aluminum filler wire when MIG welding. At the end of every episode, ESAB filler-metal experts will answer questions posted on ESABs social media sites.
Choosing the right filler metals for your application, optimizing your equipment set up and using the correct welding techniques are essential for quality and productivity, said Thomas Pfaller, a technical services engineer and aluminum expert with AlcoTec Wire Corp, which is an ESAB brand. Filler Metal Friday podcasts will help everyone from weekend welders to high-volume fabricators make informed filler-metal decisions. Many of the aluminum challenges welders face every day can be solved with simple adjustments, such as using the correct grade of aluminum filler wire, tensioning drive rolls properly or tweaking wire run-in speed, because aluminum needs a little more pre-heat time.
Pfaller appears on the first Filler Metal Friday podcast, which will feature an ESAB expert specializing in cored wires, stainless-steel filler metals, stick electrodes or other relevant areas the first Friday of every month.
