Alton Steel Inc.’s (ASI) board of directors has named steel industry veteran Chris Ervin as chief executive officer, succeeding Jim Hrusovsky, who is retiring this fall.
Ervin, who spent 19 years with Gerdau Long Steel North America and served as vice president of its West Coast rebar operation, will step into his new role immediately and will work with Hrusovsky until his September retirement.
Ervin, who has roots in Alton, Ill., USA, has more than 25 years of experience in steelmaking and steel processing. In addition to Gerdau, he worked as the general manager for Dubose Steel in North Carolina and as the regional general manager for Canam Steel Corp. in Jacksonville, Fla., USA.
