Altgen to construct tire-to-biodiesel plant

U.S.-based Altgen Corp will construct its first tire-to-biodiesel plant, a $30 million facility, in Bolivar, Tennessee. Industrial shredders will be constructed to break down the tires and remove the metal, then feed the material into a gasification system and pyrolosysis reactor which will convert approximately 50 tns/day of municipal solid waste and scrap tires into 15 million gallons of biodiesel per year.
Construction is expected to begin in early October, with fuel production and distribution planned by the third quarter of 2012. The facility will begin fuel production and distribution by the third quarter of 2012.
