When working in the oil and gas industry and dealing with wells, crews have often worked with electric pumps that spark and create ignition sources. To prevent dangerous explosions and well fires, crews have used methods such as fifty or one hundred foot long high-pressure hoses to keep the ignition source(s) far enough away from the well site to reduce the threat. Despite this, the pumps still have electrical remote controls that are necessary to operate the bolting equipment right next to a well that might have leaking hydrocarbons. This has resulted in well fires and injuries but Alltite has introduced a new pump, the H2H Pump, which can help prevent some of these accidents.
The pump can easily be powered off of a PTO on a common service truck or a diesel-powered generator, which eliminates all ignition sources such as extension cords, remote switches, fuses or circuit boards, and further renders electrical generators unnecessary. The H2H pump can be located right next to the work area, which increases hydraulic wrench speed by allowing for the use of short high-pressure twinline hoses to connect the wrenches.
The H2H pump is made of corrosion resistant non-sparking stainless steel, which is suitable for the harshest conditions. Now oil field employees can escape the dangers of bolting in explosive environments.
