Pittsburgh-based Alcoa, a specialist in lightweight metal technology, recently announced the name of its future company, dedicated to value-added products, Arconic. According to Alcoa, the “a” represents Alcoa, “arc” represents the arc of progress and “-conic” speaks to the company’s history of creating iconic products. The logo includes a tagline, “innovation, engineered” to communicate the company’s goal to invent, develop and deliver products and solutions through precision engineering and advanced manufacturing.
The future upstream-focused company will operate under the Alcoa name. The company’s separation into two independent publicly-traded companies is scheduled for the second half of 2016.
