Alacero recognized for CO2 reports

Worldsteel has selected The Latin American Association of Steel (Alacero) as its Climate Action Member for the fifth year in a row.
The certificate is awarded to organizations and companies of the steel industry that share data on CO2 emissions. This initiative was originally launched (in 2007) to develop an ISO standard that defines a method to calculate the intensity of CO2 emissions in steel and iron production, which was established in March 2013. The standard is based on the data collection methodology used by the steel industry during the last several years.

Currently the number of participating organizations in the program have been growing steadily, from 38 companies in 2007 to 48 in 2014, representing more than 200 steel plants all over the world.
