Latin American Steel Association (Alacero) announced the seventh Steel Design Contest for Architecture Students 2014. This year’s contest focuses on socio-economic inequality and housing. The students are to bring forward a proposal for a Middle Height Social Housing Building, as an area to improve the quality of life of the population through the construction of decent social housing inside the city.
Founded in 1959, Alacero is formed by 46 companies of 25 countries, whose annual production of about 70 million tons represents 95 percent of the steel manufactured in Latin America. Alacero is a Special Consulting Organization to the United Nations and is recognised as International Non-Government Organization by the Republic of Chile, host country of Alacero´s headquarters.
