Alacero: Latin America finished steel imports up

The Latin American Steel Association (Alacero) has reported that the imports of finished steel to Latin America from China for November 2014 were up approximately 83 percent (or 730 thousand tons) from November 2013.

Between January and November 2014, China exported 75.5 million tons of finished steel around the world. In particular, Latin America received 7.4 million tons. This is 56 percent more than those 4.8 million tons registered during the same period in 2013. Global finished steel exports from China continued to increase and reached 75.5 million tons between January and November 2014, growing 53 percent year-on-year.

The Latin American region ranks as the second among world destinations of Chinese steel, only surpassed by South Korea, which received 11.5 million tons.
