Nippon Steel Corporation was recently recognized as one of the worlds top 100 innovators and received the Derwent Top 100 Global Innovator 2021 Award” for the 9th consecutive year. The award denotes being recognized as one of the worlds most innovative companies and institutions by analysis of the trend in intellectual property and patents, based on the patent data owned by Clarivate Analytics (based in Philadelphia, U.S.; Japan office in Minato-ku, Tokyo).
This award, now in its 10th year, gives recognition to the worlds most innovative companies and institutions which have protected and commercialized unique innovative achievements as intellectual property. Of the worlds top 100 innovators, 29 are Japanese companies. Among them, Nippon Steel is the only steel company in the world given an award for the 9th consecutive year, from 2013. Nippon Steel feels honored that their many years of R&D activities and intellectual property creation have won them objective recognition as one of the worlds most innovative companies.
Nippon Steel aims at contributing to the progress of society through pursuit of world-leading technology development and manufacturing strength, and activities that match the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in particular the Goal 9 of building infrastructure for industrialization and innovation.
