Canada supports small and medium steel businesses

Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister, responsible for FedDev Ontario, has announced an investment of up to CAD$515,000 for Pittsburgh Steel Group.
Pittsburgh Steel Group provides custom structural steel drafting, fabrication, and installation services. With this funding, the Mississauga-based steel group will have the ability to purchase and install leading-edge robotics technology, while adopting new, sophisticated production monitoring software to improve its operations.
Funded through more than CAD$39 million allocated for southern Ontario under the Regional Economic Growth through Innovation (REGI) Steel and Aluminum Initiative, this investment will support the company’s growth, and shows Canada’s support for small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the steel and aluminum sectors that are innovating to succeed and create jobs.
“The small- and medium-sized businesses in our steel industry are important contributors to the economic vitality of communities across the country,” said Honourable Mary Ng, Minister of Small Business and Export Promotion. “Small- and medium-sized businesses are the backbone of our economy, and by investing in their success, we are investing in the success of all Canadians.”
