New year, new president

Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation (NSSMC) has announced the appointment of Eiji Hashimoto, 63, as the Representative Director and President, replacing Kosei Shindo, 69.  

Currently the Representative Director and Executive Vice President, Hashimoto has extensive experience in overseas operations, and his determined to earn the title of world’s top steel-maker for the company. “There is a fair chance that we can become the world’s number one comprehensive steel maker with our vast range of products, high level of skills and grasp of the market through our global network,” Hashimoto explains.

HashimotoÂ’s new position will take effect on April 1, 2019, the same day that the company will start under a new name, Nippon Steel Corp.
