3D printed turbine blade sensors

New Mexico-based Optomec, a leading global supplier of production grade additive manufacturing (AM) systems for 3D printed metals and 3D printed electronics, has announced that they have 3D printed turbine blade sensors for monitoring the performance of GE gas turbines. In addition to this, the company has also announced a strategic alliance with Japanese company Taiyo Nippon Sanso Corporation (TNSC).

The alliance aims to enable TNSC, and its compressed gas and equipment subsidiary Matheson, to resell Optomec LENS 3D printers. The Optomec LENS family of 3D metal printers rework and manufacture high-performance metal components in materials such as stainless steel, titanium, carbides and nickel-based super alloys. Taiyo Nippon Sanso Corporation is an industrial gas manufacturer and one of the largest suppliers of gas in the world.
