Sandvik enters into agreement with IBM

Sandvik Mining and Rock Technology, a division of Sandvik, a developer and manufacturer of products in advanced stainless steels and special alloys, with locations throughout the Americas, has announced an agreement with IBM to jointly develop market leading offerings in Data Driven Productivity Maintenance services for the mining and rock excavation industry.

Under the agreement, Sandvik and IBM will develop advanced analytics solutions that will aim to improve the safety, maintenance, productivity and services of mining and rock excavation equipment.

A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed and the two companies are already working with selected customers to pilot the concept and commercialise specific solutions.
