Greenleaf Corp. of Saegertown, PA, has developed the XSYTIN-1, a new ceramic cutting insert engineered to machine difficult materials in manufacturing. GreenleafÂ’s tungsten carbide and ceramic grade cutting tool inserts and related products are used to cut various grades of stainless steel, iron and high-temperature specialty metal alloys.
Its latest innovation is a phase-toughened ceramic insert designed to mill, turn and groove the most difficult materials used in manufacturing at high speeds. Greenleaf said XSYTIN-1Â’s applications are ideal for use in interrupted cuts, removal of scale, roughing, semi-finish and finish cuts in heat-resistant superalloy materials, stainless steel, cast irons, nodular irons, ductile irons and steel alloys.
