Minera Lumina Copper Chile reports the appointment of Maciej Sciazko as the new Executive Chairman and CEO, who will assume from August 4 to replace Ricardo Lopez Vergara, who presented his resignation to the Board this August 3rd. Polish nationality, Maciej Sciazko has a master’s degree in economics from the University of Economics in Katowice (Poland). He has over 15 yearsÂ’ experience in project management and mining operations and is an expert in change management and business transformation in copper, molybdenum, gold, silver and coal.
In 2013 assumes the general management of Sierra Gorda SCM, mining operation located in the Antofagasta Region a joint venture of the Polish miner KGHM, Sumitomo Metal Mining and Sumitomo Corporation. Between 2013 and 2016 he was responsible for the construction, commissioning and overall control of the operations of Sierra Gorda, applying a restructuring to ensure cost reduction and operational efficiency to face the cycle of low prices.
The new CEO and general manager replaces Ricardo López Vergara, civil engineer mine who joined the company in 2006 as senior mining engineer, responsible for prefeasibility and feasibility stages of the Caserones Project. He later assumed the mine management in June 2010 and then occupy the position of COO in May 2012. In October 2013 he was nominated deputy general manager of MLCC and in September 2014 assumed the position of Executive Chairman and CEO of SCM Minera Lumina Copper Chile.
