Intertek, a Total Quality Assurance provider to industries worldwide, was honored by The Safety Council of East Texas (SCET) for excellence in safety training. Only SCET members that performed work in 2015 within a four state area of Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana and Oklahoma were eligible for an award, where safety performance was measured using the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Incident Rate. The rate is a metric used to compare a companyÂ’s safety performance against a national average based on the represented industry. The Incident Rate is calculated using the formula (number of OSHA recordables x 200,000 divided by number of employee hours worked).
Hi-Tech Testing, an Intertek company, provides conventional and advanced non-destructive testing (NDT) services as well as American Petroleum Institute (API) inspections. The company has been a member of SCET since 1996, and throughout this time it has consistently exceeded the safety standards set forth by industry regulators. Hi-Tech TestingÂ’s exceptional safety training has recently resulted in two years without a lost time workplace incident.
The SCET was formed under the Texas Non-Profit Corporation Act on October 9, 1991 by East Texas contractors and industry leaders to improve the safety work performance of members and their employees. SCET provides quality safety training and testing programs that increase safety compliance with regulatory standards. SCET members are involved in a wide array of industries including industrial manufacturing, energy, oil and gas, engineering, architecture, surveying and construction.
