JSL starts production at modernized plate plant

Jindal Stainless Limited (JSL), with offices in the US and Brazil, has announced that it started production at its plate plant in Raigarh, India, which completed modernization by plantmaker, Danieli, in December 2015.

Danieli was awarded the contract by JSPL in July 2013, with the target of overcoming some quality limitations, increasing productivity up to 1.2 million metric tons per year, extending the product mix, and solving some maintenance issues. The revamping strategy was to renew the whole mill by installing new motors, stands, down coilers, etc., while minimizing shutdown times. The modernization was performed during two shutdowns in July 2014 and December 2015.
