Norsk Titanium ships 1st AM parts to Premium AEROTEC

Norsk Titanium AS, with American headquarters located in New York City, recently announced that a first shipment of Airbus test parts has been received and machined to finish by Premium AEROTEC with excellent results. The sample parts were manufactured by Norsk Titanium’s patented Rapid Plasma Deposition™ (RPD™) additive manufacturing (AM) process. Premium AEROTEC is a subsidiary of Airbus and an aerospace manufacturer, specializing in the development and production of metal and carbon fibre composite aircraft structures.

The Titanium Ti-6Al-4V sample parts, for which Premium AEROTEC holds design authority, are currently undergoing stringent engineering analysis at the company’s testing facilities. Results will be used for the qualification program in a joint approach between Norsk Titanium and Premium AEROTEC as the next step to develop full industrial technology maturity.
