RP Abrasives (RPA), with headquarters in Rochester, New Hampshire, has announced the introduction of their new Timesavers machine and line graining services for finishing a wide range of metal surfaces.
This line graining finish can be done on stainless steel, titanium, copper, brass, aluminum and steel, as well as various other metals. A line grain finish, also known as “stroking,” has applications in a variety of industries and is a sanded or etched-in linear pattern used to remove or minimize scratches, defects, mill scale and porosity. The material is then completed with a “pass” to leave a uniform finish.
The Timesavers machine can be used wet or dry, providing significant advantages. Wet and dry machines process the material in the same way, however, wet machines spray a coolant on the part as it is processed, providing a safer working environment, as well as finer and cleaner finishes. The machine uses various grits and sanding belts to achieve a wide range of grain types, from a fine semi-polished finish to very coarse lines.
