New GFC gas filters

Hydac International has developed a series of GCF gas filters, which are a range of changeover duplex coalescing filters in stainless steel.

Often, dry gas seals are used as shaft seals in turbo machinery and work pressurized sealing gas that is adjusted to maintain higher pressure compared to the process medium inside the machine. This method seals the housing and shaft from the process gases to prevent leaking into the atmosphere, which can be costly and dangerous. During the rotation of the shaft a tiny gap is formed at the seal ring, which is where the seal gas flows.

Every filter component of the GCF gas filters, even the housing, is made of stainless steel machined parts that don’t have weld connections but comply with API 614-5 requirements. Hydac offers two standard versions of the filters, a simple coalesce version, which can be used with dry gases, and one coalesce version with the integrated cyclone pre-separator for applications that use wet gases. The GCF filters are also available in double block and bleed versions for special high-pressure applications or use with hazardous gases. The particular material of the seals and housing can be custom created to suit the specific process conditions.
