Fluor Corporation has announced that the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) has selected Rock Island Integrated Services (RIIS) to perform base operations support at the Rock Island Arsenal in Illinois, as well as at six other locations in Illinois and Iowa. Rock Island is the nation’s oldest government-owned weapons manufacturing arsenal. RIIS is a joint venture of DEL-JEN, Inc., a Fluor company, and AECOM.
“We are pleased to be able to continue our work at Rock Island and very proud of the Army’s confidence in us to provide support to our men and women in uniform and their families,” said president of Fluor’s Government Group Bruce Stanski. “Rock Island is home to approximately 6,000 military, civilian and contractor personnel. It’s our responsibility to ensure the base facilities and utilities continuously support this vital defense installation.”
The contract’s scope includes public works support for the hydroelectric plant; steam generating plant and natural gas boilers, facilities engineering administration, water and sanitary sewage systems; government bridge operations, etcetera. The majority of the work will occur at the Rock Island Arsenal main base, a 946-acre island located on the Mississippi River between Davenport, Iowa and Rock Island, Ill.
