Petrobras acquires 50% stake in biodiesel plant

Petrobras has acquired 50% of the capital stock of BSBIOS Industria e Comercio de Biodiesel Sul Brasil S.A. through its wholly owned subsidiary Petrobras Biocombustivel S.A. Pbio. Located in Passo Fundo-RS, the company operates a biodiesel plant integrated with a vegetable oil extraction unit. It boasts a privileged logistic site regarding supply of grains and biodiesel marketing, located beside a fuels distribution base and a railroad terminal for grains and products. This acquisition consolidates Petrobras’ leadership in the domestic biofuels division. The acquisition involves funds of approximately R 200 million, which are subject to adjustments.
