Abengoa to build hybrid power plant

Abengoa is to build a new solar/gas hybrid power plant in Sonora, Mexico, which will have a combined capacity of 476MW. The project has been financed by the World Bank with around USD 50 million. The turnkey project is expected to enter operation within 22 months and will be delivered to Commission Federal de Electricidad (CFE). Abengoa will carry out the engineering, design and start-up of the innovative Agua Prieta II concentrating solar power (CSP) plant totaling 12MW. The second phase will be completed with the addition of a natural gas fired combined-cycle plant capable of producing up to 464.4MW.
