Sheffield Forgemasters wins multi-million order

Sheffield Forgemasters (Forgemasters) has won a large steel castings order from Allegheny Technologies (Allegheny) for three hot-metal mill-housing castings weighing between 150 and 275tns.  The castings are for the ATI Allegheny Ludlum advanced hot-rolling and processing facility located in Pennsylvania. The multi million dollar contract re-establishes Forgemasters in the metal rolling mills market for the US. The contract was secured as a result of the work demonstrated on another contract. Forgemasters supplied 67 tonne rolling mill castings to Siemens VAI for the AHMSA steel mill in Mexico, and was given the Allegheny contract due to the quality and level of finish shown. The new mill will be part of an advanced speciality metals hot-rolling and processing facility, capable of rolling a wide range of stainless steels and other specialty alloys at widths exceeding 2m. Forgemasters will supply two roughing mill housings at 275tns each and one edger housing casting at 150tns.
