The American Welding Society (AWS) and WEMCO have elected Phillip Wittke, Lincoln Electric’s Director of Marketing to serve as chair of their Image of Welding Committee. Wittke will also serve as a member of WEMCO’s executive board. The committee is part of the Welding Equipment Manufacturers Committee (WEMCO) and serves as a catalyst and thought leader in motivating industry efforts to expose welding as a career full of numerous opportunities. Wittke has more than 24 years of experience in the welding industry in five countries. In 2001, he joined Lincoln Electric as managing director of Greater China, responsible for the day to day management of Lincoln’s operations in Hong Kong, Taiwan and China. Before joining the Lincoln team, Wittke held several management and technical positions in the welding industry. He holds a number of welding related qualifications in addition to a master’s of business administration degree from Henley Management College at Brunel University.
