Martinsville plant on schedule

An RTI Metals official says the company still expects to open a USD 100 million titanium plant in Martinsville, Virginia, US. Vice President Richard Vandegrift says the plant remains on schedule to open in late 2010 or 2011. Mr Vandegrift denied rumors that the plant has been delayed or canceled. He says neither is true. While demand for titanium has slowed, Mr Vandegrift says RTI has about USD 5 billion worth of contracts with various aircraft manufacturers. The project is expected to create about 150 jobs.
