Greif Expands EcoBalance™ Line with Low Carbon Emission Steel Drums in Collaboration with ArcelorMittal

Greif, an Ohio, U.S.-based leader in industrial packaging solutions, has announced the launch of EcoBalance™ Low Carbon Emission Steel (LCE) Drums. The drums were produced in partnership with ArcelorMittal using its XCarb® recycled and renewably produced steel. This milestone extends the trusted EcoBalance brand beyond plastics into steel. It delivers customers a proven solution that combines durability, regulatory compliance, and significant carbon footprint reductions.

EcoBalance steel drums are manufactured in Europe using recycled steel and renewable energy sources such as wind, solar, and hydro. This supports a more sustainable production process. By applying Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) technology, these low-carbon-emission drums achieve an estimated 60% reduction in cradle-to-gate carbon footprint, compared to conventional steel drums.
